Hand Off More of the Placement and Routing to Quilter

  • Automated BGA fanout. The escape routing you used to do by hand before submitting any dense board, now generated automatically as part of candidate generation.
  • Clearance constraints from your files. Net-class, layer-specific, and pair-specific clearances, including high-voltage-to-low-voltage rules, read from Altium and respected through placement and routing.
  • Calculated impedance profiles. Quilter solves trace geometry from your stackup materials across every layer using the industry-standard Simbeor solver.
  • Custom component-to-pin proximity. Tell Quilter to keep a part within a set distance of a specific pin, for cases like TVS diodes, sense resistors, and snubbers.
  • Cadence schematic support. Quilter now parses Cadence schematics alongside the board file, improving bypass cap assignment and placement grouping for Cadence users.

See and Control What Quilter Does Before You Submit

  • A rebuilt setup flow. Every stackup layer, material property, and fabricator constraint that affects routing is now visible and editable, with one stackup per job for clearer control.
  • Impedance you control. Override any computed impedance value to match what your fabricator specifies, and set any differential target instead of picking from a dropdown.
  • Ground net control. Choose which ground net Quilter uses on each layer, with region ground pours for isolation, high-voltage sections, and sensitive signal domains.
  • Editable fab constraints and visual design rules. Change trace width, clearance, and via size in the app, with a to-scale preview that catches unreasonable dimensions before you submit.
  • Floorplan page (beta). Placement behavior is made explicit up front, so you are not surprised by what Quilter moves.
  • Experimental placement engines (beta). New engines produce promising candidates earlier and explore strategies the standard engine does not.

Iterate Faster and See What Is Happening

  • Projects. Every iteration of a single design grouped in one place, built for the two to four passes most boards take before fab.
  • Console. Visibility into how a job is progressing while it runs, instead of a black box.
  • Unrouted nets in Design Review. Any net that failed to route is surfaced directly, so you know exactly what is left by hand.
  • Notes on jobs and projects. Keep the reasoning behind each iteration next to the work, visible to your team.
